Research Interests

In my research, I look at the intersection of politics and the economy. I’m interested in how ideas and institutions as well as politics and power shape and are shaped by economic processes, with a particular focus on the causes and consequences of technological change.

In other words, I want to understand how political and economic power, geopolitical and distributional conflict, or institutional legacies and influential ideas shape how and which technologies are developed and deployed—and how this in turn shapes societies and economies.

Below is a list of research projects I am currently pursuing (in one way or another). The project pages include general information as well as, if already available, links to (working) papers, slides, or other materials.
